Brisa Roché

Music critics put her somewhere between Björk and PJ Harvey, but that’s a bit far-fetched. Though she may have Eskimo looks on some pics, she’s actually an American living in Paris. Brisa Roché played during about three years jazz standards in bars in Paris before striking a record deal withe Blue Note Records. Her song “Mystery Man” sparked my interest, and I have heard a few more promisings songs of her, but couldn’t get hold of the full album yet. Check out some of the tracks on her MySpace.

Warner Music Catalogue on Lala.com
Almost the whole music catalogue of Warner is from now on available for free on lala.com. Not to download of course, but you can listen anytime for free to any album or select tracks on demand. Which is nice when you’re at work! Try out the new Bjork or Miles Davis’ jazz classic Kind of Blue.
And it’s not finished: Lala.com also lets you upload your music library so you can listen to it from any computer or share it with others. Wonder how long all this will last for free though…

Kris Dane
Americana with a Belgian twist: singer/songwriter Kris Dane has a home in Brooklyn and Brussels and released a fine new album entitled “Songs of Crime and Passion”. To be played in your car on a lonesome highway. Audio samples available at krisdane.com and myspace.com/krisdane.

Mel Dune
“Time hangs heavy on your hands” is a cheery track by upcoming Belgian band Mel Dune. The song has been spinning around in my head for the last two days. You can listen to it on their myspace page (it’s the first track in the audioplayer).
